LEGO Minifigures MMO Countdown

LEGO Minifigures MMO Countdown

Last year, we reported that LEGO has teamed up with Norwegian game developer, Funcom to create a new massive multiplayer online game that will be based on the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line. Funcom has a countdown going for the LEGO Minifigures on their page and in 12 days, they will be releasing more details of the game. You can subscribe to their email list and be notified when more information is available.

LEGO Minifigures will be the second MMO game that LEGO releases with the first being the popular but failed LEGO Universe MMO and will be available for PC and Mac sometime in 2014. Players will be able to use a wide range of minifigures from the Collectible Minifigures line and each character will have their own set of abilities. Players take part in quests and PvP battles to unlock power bricks to increase their minifigure’s abilities. Looking at some of the screenshots below, the game looks like it will bring back some of LEGO Universe. In addition to playing on PCs, the game will have the ability to tie-in with mobile devices including Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile. We’ll do another post when details emerge from Funcom in a few weeks.

Update: Details have been revealed.

Jurassic Park Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter on LEGO CUUSOO

Anyone who knows me personally knows that Jurassic Park is my all-time favorite movie. When I saw it when I was 11 years old, I was amazed on how real the dinosaurs looked. After watching the movie at least 50 times, yes 50, throughout my life, I still can’t get enough of it. I’m at the point where I know the dialogue and know what each character is going to say.

Last week, the BrickQueen has posted a Jurassic Park project on LEGO CUUSOO, the Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter. The project features the Jungle Explorer SUV, Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ian Malcolm, Lex Murphy, and Tim Murphy minifigures, and the T-Rex.

The Jungle Explorer is based on a Ford Explorer XLT and has a removing glass on the top of the roof to get the “shattering” glass feature when the T-Rex attacked the vehicle. The SUV will be able to seats all four minifigures and has the utility box in the back that stores a flare and a flashlight. There were also night goggles in the movie but it’s not included at this time. They may be added later in a future update.

Another part of the project includes the fence part of the Tyrannosaur Paddock where the Rex breaks through the 10,000 volt electrified fence while the power was out. It even has the decal for the voltage sign and the warning lights.

Overall, I really like the design of the project by the BrickQueen. I’ve already put in my support and hopefully many … Continue

LEGO CUUSOO Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair Achieves 10000 Supporters

The Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair by PopCreators is the latest project to reached 10000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. If you’re not familiar with Poptropica, it is an online game created by Jeff Kinney, the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series, and most of it’s players are young children and younger teenagers. Players go to different islands and complete quests to earn credits to spend at the store. The CUUSOO project is based on the lair inside the Carrot Cake Factory that Dr. Hare set up on 24 Carrot Island. The project features the evil genius bunny in his laboratory with accessories that a villain usually has as well as the Giant Rabbot.

Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair joins quite a few projects that qualify for the Fall 2013 Review stage including the Female Minifigure Set, the ATLAS Mini Model, FTL: Faster Than Light, and the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project. With Poptropica being the 5th project to qualify for the review, I believe the 2013 Fall Review will have the most projects to be reviewed in it’s history and it may have a few more projects joining before the end of the month. The Fall deadline still a few weeks away and the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie by maxvf1 and Teekay’s Ghostbusters projects have a decent shot in joining the list as well. Congratulations to PopCreators and to the other qualifiers for reaching the review stage!

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, PopCreators!

For the system sets, they are described as lower priced sets and are tied to the Lucasfilms movies and The Yoda Chronicles. The sets are listed for a February launch.

BTTF – Doc Brown’s GMC Value Van With Small Delorean on LEGO CUUSOO

Masashi Togami and Team BTTF have published their latest project on LEGO CUUSOO, the Back to the Future – Doc Brown’s GMC Value Van with Small DeLorean. This project recreates the scene in the original BTTF movie where Marty McFly meets up with Doc Brown at Twin Pines Mall and where Doc reveals the DeLorean Time Machine for the first time. The set consists of Doc’s multi-stop truck as well as a smaller 6-studded DeLorean that is able to fit inside the van. The minifigures included are Marty and Doc wearing their radiation suits and Einstein. Accessories include the video camera that Marty uses to record the whole event and plutonium for the DeLorean.
