LEGO Employee Gift Revealed: A LEGO Christmas Tale (4000013)

LEGO Employee Gift A LEGO Christmas Tale (4000013)

Every year, employees of The LEGO Group are given a gift in the form of a LEGO set for their hard work. This year is no different. Brickset has posted images of what employees will be getting this year, A LEGO Christmas Tale (4000013). In this 435 piece set, there are actually four small models that you can build. There is Santa’s Workshop with two elves, Santa’s sleigh with reindeer, a snowman in the middle of trees, and a Christmas fireplace scene. Overall, it’s a pretty cute set that LEGO employees will be getting and no doubt that many collectors will be wanting to get their hands on as well.

Alice Finch Joins BrickLink as Chief Communications Officer

A few days ago, Alice Finch announced that she has joined the BrickLink Team as their Chief Communications Officer. Her new duties are to be the voice of the users on the site and is there to help assist people with the questions that they have. Alice will also be working alongside a team that will manage any issues that come up as well as managing the volunteers of the BrickLink. In addition, she will be working on some future releases of BrickLink and the team is eyeing Spring 2014 to have a rebuilt site. As you may or may not know, BrickLink was sold earlier this year to Jung-Ju “Jay” Kim who is also the founder of gaming company Nexon. Jay is also an AFOL and has vowed to revamp the current site.

One of BrickLink 2.0’s focus is not to be a marketplace for buying and selling LEGO items but to also be a community. Currently, the site does have a forum but it is very outdated and needs an overhaul so the changes will able to make it a closer knit community. Alice notes the new updates will allow people to not only display their MOCs but to sell them as well.

Alice has done an interview with Beyond the Brick and she goes in-depth on more things they are work on at BrickLink. She also talks about many of her builds including her Hogwarts Castle. She has also posted images of her newest creation, the Quiddich Pitch. If you have some … Continue

LEGO CUUSOO Updated Guidelines, House Rules, and Terms of Service

Today, LEGO CUUSOO has posted a major update to most of their Guidelines, House Rules, and Terms of Service. The goal of these changes is a quicker turnaround during the Review Stage and LEGO can produce the products faster. Before the changes, LEGO has been fairly lenient on what they accepted as a project for submission. That will all be changed starting today.

  • Brick-Based Construction Toy Projects Only – You will only be able to create projects that use standard LEGO parts.
  • One Project = One LEGO Set – No more series of projects. The exception is the LEGO Minecraft theme due to contractual agreement with MOJANG.
  • No Minifigure Series or “Battle Packs” – Pretty much what it says, no more minifigure projects. You will need an actual set to go with those minifigures.
  • Only Use Authentic LEGO Parts – No more non-LEGO brand parts aka Mega Bloks, K’Nex.
  • No Company Logos or Team Mascots – No more using other brand’s logos and/or mascots as the theme of your project.
  • Please Don’t Use Our Logos – Again, pretty much what it says. No more using the LEGO logo even on the mock-ups.

There are many projects at are currently supported that violate these new rules and restrictions. LEGO states that many of the existing projects that are violating the rules won’t be considered anymore. Many of these projects will be removed in the near future. Some projects that are able to be modified to conform with the new rules will be contacted and projects that have … Continue

Breaking: LEGO Star Wars UCS Sandcrawler (75059) Rumors

There are rumors of a new LEGO Star Wars UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) set that will be released in 2014. Chowren Toys has gotten word that LEGO will be releasing the UCS Sandcrawler (75059) sometime next year and will go for $299.99.

The original Sandcrawler (10144) came out in 2005 but there hasn’t been any others since. mb_bricks did a project on LEGO CUUSOO and it achieved 10,000 supporters last year but was ultimately rejected during the Review Stage. The release of next year’s set may be a reason why the project got rejected.

If these rumors are true, I’m very excited to see another UCS Sandcrawler released next year. There’s no word yet on the piece count or release date but we’ll be reporting on that information as it becomes available.

Update: BrickDancer on Brickset mentions that the above-mentioned UCS Sandcrawler will be released in Spring 2014. They also mentioned that the UCS Slave I will be released in Fall 2014. Again, these are just rumors going around and should be taken lightly. We’ll update more as details become available.

Update 2: It looks like the Sandcrawler will be a regular set albeit a much more expensive regular set. Huw from Brickset estimates it will be larger than the original 10144 set but small than the one proposed on CUUSOO.
