LEGO and IKEA Announces BYGGLEK to Promote Creative Play

Last year, LEGO announced they will be collaborating with the popular Swedish furniture IKEA to promote more creative play in the home environment. After that announcement, we really didn’t hear much about it ever since but recently, IKEA put out a press release to announce BYGGLEK which are some new products coming out in 2020 to stimulate play around the home. Although LEGO is geared towards kids, BYGGLEK will cater towards everyone, kids and adults alike. There’s not much else revealed from the press release but I’m sure more details will emerge by the end of the year.

LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru Sets Coming in 2020

In a surprise announcement out of left field this morning, LEGO revealed there will be some new LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru sets coming in 2020. There’s not much information to go on but the clip on social media shows a minions looking around. Minions: The Rise of Gru will be in theaters on July 3, 2020 so we can expect to see the sets probably around next spring.

This is the second announcement of LEGO branching out to more animated films. If you remember, LEGO teased that some Trolls World Tour sets could be coming out next year as well.

New LEGO Star Wars Video Game Rumored for E3 2019 Reveal

Back in April during Star Wars Celebration 2019, I talked about a new LEGO Star Wars video game coming out later this year and it looks there’s more information about this game the past few days. I was directed to Pure Playstation who is reporting that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games are ready to reveal the game at E3 2019 in two weeks. According to their post, there’s going to be a demo theatre presentation showing it off so I assume there’s going to be video of it online as well.

This unknown LEGO Star Wars video game is rumored to be a completely remastered and will feature all nine films from the Skywalker saga as well as some of the Star Wars Extended Universe. Since this game is said to be the “most important game TT has released” so we’ll probably have more details about it in the upcoming weeks/months.

Thanks to Daryl for the heads up.

LEGO BrickHeadz Confirmed for 2020

LEGO BrickHeadz Lady Liberty (40367)

The LEGO BrickHeadz theme has surprisingly been very popular among fans and it was saddening that the rumor of it ending shook the community. It looks like we can finally put that rumor to rest as Zusammengebaut at LEGO Fan Media Days is reporting that the LEGO BrickHeadz theme is confirmed to be returning in 2020 lead by designer Marcos Bessa. It is also stated that not only will we get more BrickHeadz, licensed sets will also be returning as well.

You may have noticed that there’s been a lack of licensed LEGO BrickHeadz this year and the next one to be coming out will be Lady Liberty (40367) and it looks like the rest of the year will be pretty much the same.

The Legacy of LEGO Ninjago

A few days ago, I did a post regarding the upcoming season of LEGO Ninjago: Secrets of the Forbiddedn Spinjitzu and it seemed to be pretty popular among you guys, especially on Twitter. LEGO has released a blog post on the LEGO Ambassador Network with an interview with Tommy Andreasen, Tommy Kalmar, and Michael Svane Knap talking about the legacy of LEGO Ninjago. The main subject matter is about the new Legacy sets and how they are designed to look like the things from the show as compared to the original ones from years past. As far as future LEGO Ninjago sets are concerned, they have this to say about it,

There are still mountains of LEGO NINJAGO stuff to do, and despite what Tommy A says, the team hasn’t run out of ideas.

“We hope to have more launches—we could do ideas from tv show which never made it into products… there’s so many things from the NINJAGO universe,” he adds.

“I have more locations on my list as well which could be interesting. There are still golden opportunities from the epic final battle to explore and beef up,” Michael hints and smiles.
