LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Rumored Set for 2017

Remember there was a rumor that we may be getting some LEGO sets based on the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales which turned out to be false? If may seem that the rumor may indeed be true. According to one of my sources, they sent me a message regarding sets based on the movie and word has it that there will only be one fairly large set, with the price range around $200-$250. It was stated that it may be one of the new pirate ships in the franchise, possibly the Dying Gull or the Silent Mary. If you’ve read up on the movie, the Dying Gull and the Silent Mary are the two new pirate ghost ships that will be featured in the film.

LEGO did a couple of ships back in 2011 for PotC: On Stranger Tides with The Black Pearl (4148) and Queen Anne’s Revenge (4195) but it’ll be cool to have another ship to add to the fleet if this rumor is true about the LEGO PotC: Dead Men Tell No Tales set. We’re still a long ways away from the premiere of the movie in May 26, 2017 but hopefully we’ll be able to get more concrete information by the end of this year or early next year.

LEGO’s Profit Falls in US in First Half of 2016

I usually don’t report on LEGO’s numbers but here’s something that’s a little interesting. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that LEGO’s net profit for the first half of 2016 has dropped by 2% as compared to 2015. If you’re talking currency, that’s DKr3.49bn ($525 million) which is a slight drop from DKr3.55bn in the same time from last year. While sales dropped here in the US, they increased by more than 10% over in Europe as well as in Asia.

LEGO’s Chief Financial Officer John Goodwin stated, “In the U.S., we acknowledge that we have not provided the initiatives and support needed to keep the same high level of growth.”

LEGO also stated that a rapid increase in the number of employees, by adding 3,500 new workers in 2016, along with investing in a factory in China has impacted profit growth.

It’s not that surprising that sales have slipped here in the US as there have been some things have happened like with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS being out of stock for a while and the first LEGO Star Wars UCS set of 2016 being fairly lackluster. Even then, I don’t see it being a big deal. With the holiday season just around the corner, LEGO looks to end the year on a high note and continue being the top toy company.

LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) Coming in October

LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222)

A few days ago, I posted the October 2016 Store Calendar which I’ve updated with higher quality scans as well as the back page for it. One of the things that I want to feature on it is the FREE exclusive Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) with purchases of $99 or more from October 1-25, while supplies last. The set is pretty much another advent calendar which contains 250 pieces and contains 24 different builds including a train, plane, Christmas tree, snowman, reindeer, candy cane, dog, fireplace mantle, and more.

This Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) is a nice change to the usual LEGO Star Wars, City, and Friends Advent Calendars which are starting to be more of the same each year. The set will be available for North America starting in October and I’m not sure if Europe and other countries will be getting the promo so you’ll have to check your own stores to see what they have available then.

LEGO Mixels Ending After 2016?

LEGO Mixels Series 9 Screeno (41578)

If you’re a LEGO Mixels fan, there may be some bad news about the theme. It was reported yesterday by Brickset that the fairly popular theme may be coming to an end after this year. There are some clues into this theory when the show’s producer on Cartoon Network, Jordan Reicheck stated that the last episode will premiere in September.

We already know there will be another wave of LEGO Mixels coming this October with Series 9 but there hasn’t been any information about any future waves and the rumored 2017 set list made no mention of them.

Of course, nothing is really set in stone as the show ending may not mean that the LEGO theme itself is ending. If you enjoyed the theme whether it be the weird characters or because they’re great parts packs, LEGO Mixels did have a good three year run. As people always say, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

LEGO Star Wars Eclipse Fighter (75145) Review

LEGO Star Wars Eclipse Fighter (75145)

Back in February, it was announced that LEGO will be releasing a new animated series on Disney XD called LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures and in conjunction with the show, there was a couple of sets released as well. LEGO has kindly sent over the two sets for us to review including the Eclipse Fighter (75145) and the StarScavenger (75147). In this post, I’ll be review the smaller set with the Eclipse Fighter. It contains 363 pieces and retails for $29.99 which is a pretty good price/piece ratio. The contents of the box include three numbered bags and the instruction booklet.

**WARNING: If you haven’t watched LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, I suggest watching it over on Disney XD as it does have an interesting original storyline which is set between Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. There will be some minor spoilers in the reviews.**

Toys R Us Exclusive LEGO Musicians Minifigure (55004421) Collection Shows Up Online

LEGO Minifigure Collection Musicians (55004421)

Remember when Toys R Us did exclusive LEGO Minifigure Collections for Bricktober before they changed to the Mini Modular sets the last few years? It looks like they might be making a comeback as Brickset has found that a new Minifigure Collection set has shown up online for TRU Germany and selling for 14.99€. This set is the first of four Minifigure Collections for this year and it features Musicians (55004421) which looks like it’s just a mix of various minifigure parts including some from the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line. Currently it only ships to Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Poland but hopefully when October comes around, they will be available here in the States as well.
