LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Available on Amazon

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109)

If you weren’t able to buy the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) on Shop@Home, you’ll be glad to know that Amazon has it available for $34.95. It does, however, require an additional 1-2 days to process but at least you’ll be able to purchase it and it is eligible for Amazon Prime.

On the same note, The Brothers Brick has reported that the Exo Suit is not on a limited run. Andrew had a conference call with the people at LEGO in Enfield and Billund and was reassured that the single production run rumor is false so there you have it. There will be more sets coming out in the future but that may take a little while longer. In the meantime, click on that Amazon link up top to get the set from Amazon. You’ll be helping our site as well as getting the set for yourself so it’s a win-win.

Update: And just like that, the offer is over. We’ll keep you updated if it’s available again.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit and Research Institute Availability

LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110)

Not even a week after the newest LEGO Ideas sets were released, the inventory on the Exo Suit (21109) and the Research Institute (21110) have run dry. Not even a day after the release of the Exo-Suit, the amount that you could buy was changed from 2 to 1 and it went on backorder with it shipping in 30 days. The status of it has since been changed to “Temporary out of stock.”

If you followed my Facebook Page, you would’ve seen that the Exo Suit was flying off the shelves and the inventory they had were already gone by the end of the day. The rumor that the set would only have a single production run probably fueled the demand of the set even more on top of the already immense popularity of it. If you ordered it online, it’s a wait and see situation if you’ll be getting yours or not. I’ve had people comment saying that the set showed up at their house without a shipping confirmation email so there’s a chance that your order may have went through.

For the Research Institute, it is now listed as “Sold Out” on Shop@Home. If you wanted to pick up this set, it is probably too late now unless you can find them at your LEGO Store. I know mine (Fashion Valley, San Diego) will have some more coming in on Friday but I expect them to be sold very quickly. Unlike the Exo Suit, it was available for purchase a lot longer than … Continue

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Review

There have been a lot of very cool LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas sets that have been available the last few years. One thing that the new Exo Suit (21109) does not have in common with all the other sets is that it is an original idea and not based on an intellectual property. The newest LEGO Ideas set is the brainchild of Peter Reid and has been highly anticipated since it hit 10,000 supporters last year on LEGO CUUSOO.

When it became available a few days ago, I made sure that I was at my local LEGO Store early to be sure that I would be guaranteed to get one. The set has 321 pieces and retails for $34.99 for a $0.11/piece ratio. The box contains four small unnumbered bags, a loose flex hose and 8×8 grid plate, and the instruction booklet.

Box

While the design phase was happening for the set, Peter assembled a team of AFOLs to discuss how the Exo Suit would be packaged and marketed. What they and LEGO came up with for the box is a work of art in itself. When you look at it, you get somewhat of a nostalgic feel of the Classic Space box art. At the bottom right corner, you are reminded that the Exo Suit is set #007 in the CUUSOO/Ideas line. The back of the box shows an action shot of the Exo Suit with the yellow barrels.

The instructions booklet comes in a matte-like paper which is a little different than the kind of … Continue

The time is now here and the new LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) is now available on Shop@Home. It probably won’t sell out on the first day but LEGO Designer Mark Stafford has hinted that the set is currently a single production run so don’t wait on getting it if you plan to.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Official Box Images

21109 Exo-Suit

The new LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) is still a few weeks away from the official release but a few sites are fortunate enough for get their review copies from the LEGO Community Engagement and Events (CEE) team already. I’m part of group of people who are currently waiting to get our hands on the Exo Suit on August 1st. However, I can still tease you guys with images of the box, courtesy of Brickset.

We first saw images of the box when the Exo Suit was first revealed but it was only a blurry picture and now we can clearly see it. On front of the box, we can see a few of the things that we already knew were going to be included with the set such as the Exo Suit, the two minifigures, and the turtle but on the back, it shows that we also two yellow barrels and a platform.

We’ll be doing our own review once we get the set is available next month so stay tuned for that.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Will Have Single Production Run

21109 Exo-Suit

With the reveal of the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109), LEGO Designer Mark Stafford, aka Lego-Nabii, has been giving some insight of the set on Reddit including the development of the set and why he used certain LEGO elements. One very important thing about the set that Mark notes is:

  • This is currently a single production run – I’m not sure of the figures – but if you see it and you want it then buy it, at the moment when it’s gone it’s gone for good. Don’t be disappointed. (Not trying to do a hard sell here, this is currently the plan!)
  • At the moment the plan is for a single run. Don’t dawdle on this one! (sorry.)

What that means is that the Exo Suit (21109) will only be sold once and once LEGO has run out of stock, then that’s it. The LEGO CUUSOO Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover (21104) also had a single production run and we’ve all saw what happened with that so don’t hesitate to get it once it becomes available for purchase in August.

For some of us, we’ll be getting multiples of the set to build an army of them and given the popularity of it so far, I’m pretty sure that it will be sold out fairly quickly. There’s no mention on how many sets are produced but just to give a comparison, the Mars Curiosity Rover sold out in a matter of days here in the US. The Exo Suit will be available both on Shop@Home … Continue
