LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) Officially Announced

At long last, LEGO has finally announced the LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set and I’m very, very excited for it. The set contains 2,321 pieces and will retail for $179.99 which makes it the largest and most expensive LEGO Ideas set that LEGO has produced. As you can see from the images, Voltron looks amazing and if you’re wondering if it can transform from the five lions to Voltron, yes it can! You’ve probably heard be say it before, but I’m a huge Voltron fan and I will definitely be getting multiples of this set to display them with the lions and the combined form. The LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set will be available starting on July 23 for VIP Early Access and on August 1 for the general public.

LEGO Ideas Redesigned & LEGO Rebrick Shutting Down

LEGO Ideas

LEGO Ideas has a new blog post that announced some new changes that have been implemented as well as some things coming to the site. The main thing is the updated look of the site overall. Some of the changes can be seen below.

-A redesigned, responsive site design with an improved mobile experience.

-A news feed that shows you top items according to a score by default. You can also toggle the feed to show the most recent items first by selecting “New” in the Sort By box underneath the left menu on any news feed page. Read more about how Top items are sorted.

-Redesigned navigation menus that make Contests more visible.

Projects are now called “Product Ideas.” We found the public called them “ideas” anyway, so we updated this for clarity.

-The Discover page now lets you search product ideas, contests, contest entries, and blog posts.

-We’ve updated our Product Idea Guidelines and Terms of Service. Most notably, now:
All product ideas must be submitted on your own behalf and not on behalf of an employer or client.
Under Prizes and Rewards, we have added a missing mention of the consolation prizes given for Product Ideas not approved in Review.

I will say that the new design looks good but it’s also very convoluted. Some of the filters went away including the “most supported” one which I think most people use to track what projects are close to reaching the 10k milestone. Honestly, now I can’t find anything on there and it looks … Continue

LEGO Ideas International Space Station Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The International Space Station by XCLD is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. This is actually the second time XCLD reached the required amount of supporters for the International Space Station, albeit a different version. The first one hit 10k back in 2015. This updated version consists of about 850 pieces (station: 650, shuttle: 50, support: 150) and is in scale with the Space Shuttle from the LEGO Ideas Women of NASA (21312). The model features two Soyuz capsules and two progress capsules. It now joins the SpaceX Falcon Heavy as the projects to reach the Second 2018 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas SpaceX Falcon Heavy Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The SpaceX Falcon Heavy by khehmeyer is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The project is based on the rocket operation that made its maiden voyage back in February. The design has the center core along with the side boosters with a lot of features like removable boosters and engines as well as the payload. It is about 26 inches tall and has about 1,700 pieces. This is the first project to reach the Second 2018 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas Voltron – Defender of the Universe Release Date Revealed?

It’s been over a year since the LEGO Ideas Voltron – Defender of the Universe hit 10,000 supporters and basically there has been no information about it since it was announced that it would become an official set. I did report on rumored pricing but now there might be information on a release date for the set. Candidbricks has found from a South Korean news site, IT Chosun, that Voltron would be released on August 1 as was told to them by an official from LEGO Korea. The reason for the long delay is because LEGO needed more time to get the license to produce the set.

Although a release date was stated, it’s still not a confirmation until LEGO actually announces it online or through a press release. I’m still thinking they will be showing it off at San Diego Comic Con next month as it is the perfect place to announce it.

LEGO Ideas Third 2017 Review Stage Winner Announced

LEGO has announced the winner of the LEGO Ideas Third 2017 Review Stage and it really isn’t a surprise given one of the upcoming LEGO promotions is loosely based on it. The winning project that will become an official LEGO Ideas set is the Pop-Up Book by JKBrickworks and Grant_Davis_. This is the second project by Jason that has been approved by the LEGO Ideas team and is a great example of what LEGO Ideas is about. The set will be available on store shelves later this year. You can check out the announcement below.

LEGO Ideas First 2018 Review Stage Underway

First 2018 LEGO Review Stage

The LEGO Ideas First 2018 Review Stage has now kicked off as the deadline to qualify for it has ended. There are a whopping ten projects that qualified for review which include:

SR-71A The Final Flight
Treehouse
Stitch
Modular Arcade
I am Amelia Earhart
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Acclamator Class Assault Ship
The Flintstones
The Vintage Motorcycle of BMW R60/2

Which project(s) do you think will pass the review stage? Sound off in the comments below. In the meantime, the Third 2017 LEGO Review Stage is getting close to being wrapped up and the announcement should be coming sometime this summer. We’re also still waiting for the official reveal of the Voltron – Defender of the Universe set which was announced back in August. I have a feeling that it’ll be revealed at San Diego Comic Con as it is a great time to an unveiling.
