BrickLink Designer Program First Crowdfunding Round Goals Reached

The first crowdfunding round for the BrickLink Designer Program launched this morning and after about eight hours, we now know which sets will be produced. After some overload issues on the site this morning, fans were slowly able to pre-order the projects that they wanted to see produced and the first five to reach that goal are Castle in the Forest, Great Fishing Boat, Sheriff’s Safe, Pursuit of Flight, and Kakapo. BIONICLE Legends and Particle Accelerator are the two projects that are now eliminated and will not be made.

Castle in the Forest was the fastest one to sell out 5,000 copies and it hit that goal in about 40 minutes after pre-orders started. Following that was Great Fishing Boat and the others slowly followed. As of this post, Pursuit of Flight and Kakapo are the ones that hasn’t reached full pre-order capacity.

At first glance, I thought that BIONICLE Legends would’ve been one of the top five since they have a large but niche community but judging by the progress bar, it doesn’t look like it even it 1,500 pre-orders.

Note that the Mountain View Observatory has been pushed to a future crowdfunding round.

Were you able to place your orders and which one(s) did you get? Were you satisfied with how the pre-orders went? I thought it was smooth after the initial rush and checkout on the LEGO Shop was also nice. One complaint that I saw was that there was a max limit of five of a particular project that people could buy. … Continue

BrickLink Designer Program First Crowdfunding Pre-Orders Live

The day is finally here where the first BrickLink Designer Program crowdfunding round has officially started and you can now place pre-orders on the projects. What this is program is about is these projects were previously rejected on LEGO Ideas but now have a second chance for fans who wanted them. There were originally eight projects for this round but the Mountain View Observatory has been pushed back to a future crowdfunding round.

The first five projects to reach 3,000 pre-orders will be produced and there will be a limit of 5,000 of each. If a project fails to get 3,000 pre-orders, all the pre-orders will be cancelled and you won’t get charged for it. One question that was asked about pre-ordering was the shipping charge. You’ll be glad to know that shipping will be FREE to all countries BrickLink ships to.

There will be two more rounds of crowdfunding for this fall which will have up to 15 out of the 26 projects that are part of the program.

Mountain View Observatory Not Ready for BrickLink Designer Program Crowdfunding

The BrickLink Designer Program is set to kick off the crowdfunding stage for the projects that were production ready. For those who were waiting to pre-order Mountain View Observatory, you won’t be able to because it has been moved to another round due to the high complexity of it. The last update on it was on May 14 for it to get ready but it wasn’t enough time to do so. Hopefully, it’ll be ready for either of the next crowdfunding rounds.

Unfortunately, due to high complexity of this project, it will no longer be included in Round 1 crowdfunding. It will be available for crowdfunding in another round. Please check back for updates.

There will still be seven projects available for pre-order tomorrow which includes the Sheriff’s Safe, Pursuit of Flight, BIONICLE Legends, Kakapo, Castle in the Forest, Particle Accelerator, and Great Fishing Boat.

Thanks to Shayne for the heads up.
