LEGO Technic Audi R8 by Sariel

LEGO vehicle builder extraordinaire Sariel has unveiled his latest creation and it is one of my favorite cars, the Audi R8. The car is only a few years old but was mostly recognized in the first Iron Man movie and is easily a very distinguishable car that makes heads turn.

Sariel created the car out of mostly orange parts and if you’re a builder, you know that there aren’t that many orange parts available. This limitation made Sariel’s build somewhat harder because some parts weren’t available at all. Even with that limitation, Sariel finally completed the Audi R8 and has also released a video showcasing the features of it which you can check out in the video below.

Some Information about LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory and WALL•E Sets

To make up for the downtime early this morning, I have some new information about the upcoming LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory and WALL•E sets. Many fans have been waiting for any kind information about them but there’s been absolutely nothing so far, until now. This information comes from the same contact who first told us that the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Shield Helicarrier (76042), LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016), and the LEGO Star Wars UCS TIE Fighter (75095) would be released this year.

For both of the new LEGO Ideas sets, the pricing was said to be at NZD 109.99. What this may mean is that the sets will be the most expensive LEGO Ideas sets to date and will probably be the largest in terms of piece count as well. They also told me that they will be available in New Zealand in September but we usually get the sets a little earlier so I’m thinking around the middle of summer wave sets.

Unfortunately, there is no other information that was given about the sets as well as the LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set. Of course take this information as a rumor but given the track record of our contact who has been correct many times before, I’d say they’re pretty reliable.

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015 Recap

Star Wars Days 2015 took place at LEGOLAND California this past weekend and there were some new things at the park this year. One thing is the massive 500,000 LEGO brick Death Star model at the LEGO Star Wars Miniland area. To give you some perspective, it stands 13 feet high and 8 feet wide weighing more than 1,900 pounds. Words doesn’t really describe how big it actually is. You have to see it in person to get the full effect.

Below the Death Star are some vignettes from Star Wars Episodes IV and VI. Each scene have some action effects with them when you press the button underneath the scene plaque.

Next to the Death Star is another model which features a trench run with a couple of Y-Wings being chased by some TIE Advanced x1s.

Another thing to see at Star Wars Days is all the cool MOCs in the fan gallery area. Members of SandLUG, LUGOLA, and other local builders had many of their builds on display for the public to see.

Overall Star Wars Days 2015 at LEGOLAND California was another cool event that I was able to attend. Unfortunately I did was unable to stay as long as I wanted and missed photos of some of the MOCs. LEGO Science Themed T-Shirt on TeeFury

TeeFury has a new LEGO-themed t-shirt today featuring a couple of well respected men in the field of science, Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson. The shirt will be available for 24 hours and is priced starting at $11. The colors available for the shirt are navy blue and black. If you have the other LEGO science themed t-shirts from a few months back, this one would make a nice addition to the collection.

LEGO Ninjago: Secret World of the Ninja Book Coming in June

LEGO Ninjago fans, it looks like there’s going to be a new DK book coming out for you guys called LEGO Ninjago: Secret World of the Ninja. It look like it’s another encyclopedia-type book filled with facts about the ninjas, their weapons, vehicles, and more. As you can see, the book will also include an exclusive minifigure which we have to start wondering about. LEGO Star Wars Miniland Death Star Unveiled at LEGOLAND California

Yesterday, LEGOLAND California opened their doors to the public for to see the new LEGO Star Wars Miniland Death Star model which was created with more than 500,000 LEGO bricks. It is the largest LEGO model in the Miniland standing at 13 feet high, 8 feet wide and weighing more than 1,900 pounds. Check out the video below of Fox 5 giving you a sneak peek of the Death Star.

The unveiling of the Death Star kicks off the weekend early with the LEGO Star Wars Days event being held on March 7 and 8. Local builders will be on hand to display lots of cool MOCs. I’ve seen some early shots of the builds and they look awesome so far. I’ll be at LEGOLAND on Sunday, March 8 to cover Star Wars Days so stay tuned for lots of pictures of the event.

Bricksauria – Tyrannosaurus Rex Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Bricksauria – Tyrannosaurus Rex by senteosan is the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. If you remember back in 2013, the Tyrannosaurus was part of his LEGO CUUSOO Jurassic Park project before it was archived due to licensing issues. This was also before Jurassic Park sets were allowed again on LEGO Ideas.

As a Jurassic Park/dinosaur fan, I do like the overall look of the set and it would make a great display piece. The Bricksauria – Tyrannosaurus Rex project now joins The Discworld, Science Adventures, the Medieval Market Street, Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa’s Ice Palace, and the Douglas DC-3 to qualify for the First 2015 Review Stage.
