LEGO Shop@Home Sets Retiring Soon 2016

Long-time reader Daniel has emailed in letting us know that LEGO Shop@Home UK has updated their Retiring Soonicon page and there are some sets that you may want to pick up before they’re gone forever. The US page hasn’t been updated yet but the UK page lets us know which sets will be next to go soon.

LEGO sets usually have a one to two year shelf life while some sets sometimes can last a lot longer while others may be pulled within a year so it’s kind of hard for regular shoppers to guage what sets may be on the shelves.

Below is a list of current sets that have been listed on the UK Retiring Soon page. If you’ve been on the fence on picking them up, now would be a great time to especially with the Double VIP Points event going on. Amazon also has some decent sales on the sets if you prefer that route.

LEGO Gingerbread Man (5005156) Coming Back for Limited Time in December

LEGO Gingerbread Man (5005156)

Earlier today, I reported on December 2016 LEGO Store Calendar and there’s some interesting news that comes from that. The first one I’ll be reporting on this the return of the free Gingerbread Man (5005156) with purchases of $50 or more at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home from December 12-18.

The Gingerbread Man minifigure itself is not new as it was in the Series 11 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71002) but it does not have the red “Dunk Me!” cup. However, it does come with a decorative box in the form of a Gingerbread House similar the Easter Minifigure (5004468) from earlier this year.

So if you missed out on the Gingerbread Man minifigure from three years ago, December will be your best chance to get one, outside of the secondary market. It’s currently going for $10+ over on BrickLink. The promotion will last seven days but I have a feeling that it’ll be sold out before that so get your orders in early. Hopefully we’ll be able to find it at Toys R Us as well like with the Easter Chicken which as able to be purchased individually at $4.99 each.

LEGO Seasonal Halloween Vampire and Bat (40203) Review

LEGO Seasonal Halloween Vampire and Bat (40203)

LEGO has been traditionally releasing Seasonal sets for some of the major events that happen throughout the year and 2016 hasn’t changed. For 2016, LEGO has already released the Vampire and Bat (40203)icon which retails for the usual $9.99 and has 150 pieces. As with all the 2016 Seasonal sets, you have the character builds opposed to the more popular vignette sets from last year. The contents of the box include three un-numbered bags and the instructions.

LEGO City Coast Guard Sets Coming in Summer 2017

If you were fond of the LEGO City Coast Guard sets back in 2008 and 2013, it looks like they’ll be making a comeback again next year. According to Brickset’s database, there are six sets listed under the subtheme for the summer 2017 wave with set numbers ranging from 60163-60168. Of course, this is just a partial list of the summer 2017 LEGO City sets as there are a lot more in the theme.

Do you guys enjoy the LEGO City Coast Guard sets when they were released a few years ago? Let us know in the comments below.

Creations for Charity 2016 Sale Begins Today

The 8th annual Creations for Charity has officially kicked off for the 2016 LEGO fundraiser. If you’re not familiar with Creations for Charity, it was founded by Nannan Zhang who’s been part of the LEGO community for a long time and the charity raises money to purchase LEGO sets for underprivileged children during the holiday season. As mentioned before, this is the 8th year that it has been going and every year, they’ve donated more and more sets to kids throughout the world.

The online store is now open over on BrickLink and you can either buy a custom build from LEGO builders in the community or donate your own build for the cause. One of the more notable builds this year is from Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) who has provided instructions to build his Johnny Five which failed to pass the First 2016 LEGO Review Stage. For only $5, Matt will provide the instructions in PDF format as well as a parts list for both BrickLink and Rebrickable.

If you want to donate your builds, you have until November 15 at the link above.
