Stay Creative Ep3: A New Suitor For BrickLink?!

Three weeks ago, Chad Collins, the creator the LEGO Fan Convention Philly Brick Fest and touring LEGO experience Brick Fest Live, quietly launched a new web show called “Stay Creative”. The name of show, is the tagline Chad and his daughter Jordyn used in each of their videos on their YouTube channel, Your Creative Friends (YCF).

I have gotten to know Chad and his team, and have attended Philly Brick Fest each of the last two years. My blog, and YCF started around the same time, and each have had their share of success. But when Chad recently declared on his show that he wanted to buy BrickLink, it caught me off guard. His show, and new mission to buy the popular LEGO marketplace, are sure to get major attention. It seems like Chad is up for answering any question posted to social media using #AskStayCreative, and was gracious enough to answer these follow up questions from me on this topic. Here we go!

TBF: What makes you qualified to take over BrickLink?

CC: Before answering that question, it is important to recognize the late Dan Jezek, his mother Eliska (whom I briefly met two years ago at BrickWorld), for her willingness to keep BrickLink running as Dan’s legacy, and to Jay Kim for bringing stability and scalability to the ever growing popularity of the marketplace. Jay came to Philly Brick Fest in 2014, and it was great to meet him them. I am looking forward to our next conversation.

Zach Galifianakis to Voice Joker in LEGO Batman Spinoff Movie

The Hollywood Reporter has reveal that Zach Galifianakis is in the final stages of negotiation to voice the Joker in the LEGO Batman spinoff movie in 2017. He now joins Will Arnett who will be reprising his role as the Caped Crusader along with Michael Cera who will be voicing Robin.

Galifianakis has done voice acting before on the big screen with Humpty Dumpty in Puss in Boots as well as on various TV shows like American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, and The Simpsons. He’ll no doubt bring his own spin on the Clown Prince of Crime and I look forward to seeing it in a few years.

LEGO Technic Design Contest Held on Rebrick

The LEGO CEE Team has sent over some details on a new LEGO TECHNIC contest being held over on Rebrick with some awesome prizes for the winners included an unannounced set as well as the new Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 (42043). Check out the details of the contest below.

Build THE Mercedes-Benz Truck of the future!

One day during the early 1920’s Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler sat down in Germany and agreed to merge their two car companies into one and start producing Mercedes-Benz cars. They had each made their own versions of the world’s first petrol-driven cars back in 1886. Within years, Gottlieb Daimler sold his first truck – almost 120 years ago!

Some of the first Mercedes-Benz branded diesel powered trucks were built in Stuttgart in 1923. Today, in 2015, half of all trucks on the German roads are Mercedes-Benz trucks.

Just imagine how Karl and Gottlieb would react if they were time-warped from 1925 to 2015 to witness just how big, fast and capable the Mercedes-Benz trucks have become 90 years later! What would they say if they could see what their vision has led to?

Your vision…

Think the new LEGO® Technic 42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 is the coolest Technic set ever made? (Yeah, we like it, too!) And have you thought about what the perfect truck would look like if you could design your own?

Hold that thought, and now, imagine yourself traveling 30 years into the future, to 2045. You’re taking a brand new Mercedes-Benz Truck out for a spin.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Winter 2016 Rumored Set Details

Eurobricks super-sleuth CM4Sci has reported on a couple of rumored

Eurobricks super-sleuth CM4Sci has reported on a couple of rumored LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets for 2016. Remember last year at SDCC where LEGO released an exclusive Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile? Well it looks like we’ll be getting a Classic TV Series Batcave (76052) to go along with it next year. There’s no word on whether there will be a Batmobile included with the set or not.

CM4Sci has also given details on another set called the Gotham City Cycle Chase (76053). From the looks of it, it sounds like there will be multiple vehicles associated with this set. Stay tuned as more details of next year’s set begin to emerge for various themes.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 14: Monsters (71010) Official Images

LEGO has revealed the official images of the Series 14 LEGO Collectible Minifigures: Monsters (71010) along with the descriptions of each character. They will be available starting September 1st.

Banshee

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 14: Monsters (71010) - Banshee

“I’ve got bad news, and more bad news…”

Poor Banshee. It’s not her fault that her job is to warn people about bad news in their future. And she does it very well, with all of the woeful weeping and wailing that you might expect from an ancient spirit of ill omen. But nobody likes to hear her tidings of misfortune, and so she finds herself unwelcome wherever where she goes.

It’s hard to make friends when you’re compelled to inform your fellow Minifigures that they’re going to stub their toes, or misplace their phones, or forget to water their plants. It’s not like the Banshee causes the problems herself; she’s just cursed with the ability to see that they’re going to happen. For some reason, though, everybody seems to blame her anyway. On the bright side, she’s recently become pen pals with the Sad Clown, who just loves getting bad news!

Fly Monster

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 14: Monsters (71010) - Fly Monster

“Bzzz. Bzzz? Bzzz!”

Until very recently, the Fly Monster was a regular housefly. Now that he’s been mutated into a half-fly, half-Minifigure creature, he’s found himself a little bit confused. Part of the problem is that his mind is still pretty much that of a fly. The other part is that he doesn’t realize just how much larger he is than he used to be.

The Fly Monster is always running into … Continue

LEGO Scooby-Doo The Mystery Machine (75902) Review

LEGO Scooby-Doo The Mystery Machine (75902)

When rumors started last year that there would be a new LEGO Scooby-Doo theme, many fans were excited about it but some were also skeptical on how the sets would look like. That is until when the first images came out early this year and worries were relieved. All the sets were also available at San Diego Comic Con a few weeks ago to attendees and they quickly flew off the shelves. They are now officially available and the sets have become hard to find as many old-school Scooby-Doo fans as well as newer fans wanted a piece of the action.

LEGO Scooby-Doo The Mystery Machine (75902)

One of the sets I’ve managed to pick up is one of the most iconic vehicles in television history in my opinion, The Mystery Machine (75902). The set contains 263 pieces and retails for $29.99 which is a decent price for what you get. The contents of the box include three numbered bags, two instruction booklets, and one large sticker sheet.

Possible LEGO 2016 Set List?

An interesting list popped up over on BrickPicker that could be a potential list of the first-half 2016 LEGO sets for various themes. This list does correspond to earlier rumors of some City and Ninjago sets for next year. The list was scrambled when I looked at it so I tried to organize it into separate themes. If you look closely, there could be a hint to what the next modular set could be. Keep in mind this isn’t an official list.
