Rest of LEGO 2014 Promotions Including Double VIP Points

There is a postcard that is currently being sent out to LEGO VIP members which details some of the upcoming promotions that LEGO will be having the rest of the year. I haven’t received one yet but DadsAFOL on the Brickset Forums has posted an image of it a few days ago.

First up is something we’ve touched on a few times already. You can get the free exclusive Classic Spaceman Minifigure with purchases of $99 or more in September.

October is a month that many people have been waiting for. October marks the return of Double VIP Points! During the whole month at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home, you can get $5 for every $50 you spend. If you’ve been holding off on your larger purchases, October may be the month that you can get the most value from.

For November, LEGO again will have their version of Black Friday with their “Brick” Friday event. VIPs will be able to get a number of sets at discounted prices as well as a free holiday Winter Skating Scene set with purchases of $99 or more. There are no images of the set yet but we’ll report it once they become available.

The rest of 2014 looks to be a very exciting time for LEGO fans as we have lots of cool stuff to look forward to. What month/promotions are you looking forward to the most?

Upcoming LEGO CLUB Magazine Subscribers Changes

Keith Severson of the LEGO CEE Team recently shared the following information to LEGO Ambassadors regarding the free LEGO CLUB Magazine. Starting in September in parts of Europe, CLUB members who are older than 13 years old will no longer be enrolled in the subscription. In November, all of Europe will be subjected to the same regulation and in 2015, the rest of the world will be following the same rules.

The magazine will now focus its distribution to children 12 years old and younger. AFOLs who still want the magazine can get it at LEGO Stores although it’s a slight inconvenience. For me, I mostly enjoy the different comic that are included in the magazines.

Check out the email that was sent out below and leave a comment to share your thoughts on this change. Although I’m not a LEGO Ambassador, maybe LEGO can see some of the readers’ comments and pass them along.

I have recently have had a dialog with the LEGO CLUB team. They are taking a new step in the CLUB Magazine which is resulting in some changes, specifically affecting adult subscribers.

Coming in the September release in EUC (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) all CLUB members who are older than 13 years old will receive a notice that it is their last subscription. Then in November it will be all of Europe (November will be the 2nd launch in EUC, so DE, AT and CH only) and then starting in 2015 it will be global. The CLUB magazine will focus its

The LEGO House Construction Officially Begins

Last year, we reported that The LEGO Group will be constructing the LEGO House which will be opening in Billund Denmark in 2016. A few days ago, LEGO announced that the construction for the LEGO House has finally begun. Three generations of the owner family was there to lay the six foundation stones that represent The LEGO Group’s values: imagination, creativity, fun, learning, caring, and quality.

The completed project will be 12,000 square meters and will feature multiple experience areas, a cafe, an unique LEGO Store, and a 2,000 square meter public square. The LEGO House is expected to bring in about 250,000 people annually.

Bjarke Ingels, founding partner of BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group and the architect of the LEGO House notes:

“For me the LEGO brick embodies the notion of systematic creativity – that the rigour and rationality of the LEGO brick allows children of all ages infinite possibilities to create their own worlds and to inhabit them through play. We have been inspired by the modularity of the LEGO brick to create the LEGO House. It will appear like a cloud of interlocking LEGO bricks that form spaces for exploration and exhibition for its visitors within. On the outside the pile of bricks form the roof of a new covered square as well as a mountain of interconnected terraces and playgrounds.”

Some LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2015 Set Details

A few days ago, we reported on some rumored LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes 2015 sets and now, some LEGO Marvel Super Heroes details have emerged. An Eurobricks member named Hulk_Smash has given some hints of what would be coming out next year for the Marvel side of the LEGO sets.

First up are some sets based on the Ant-Man movie that will be coming out next summer starring Paul Rudd.

Next is a set based on the Iron Man Hulkbuster suit which is presumably an Avengers: Age of Ultron set. The Hulkbuster would be aroudn the size of Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy set (76020) and can fit a regular Iron Man minifigure inside. Earlier this week, we had a guest post and Joe suggested that such a set may happen and it looks like it could be happening.

Hulk_Smash also has some information about an Invisible Jet for LEGO DC Comic Super Heroes. From what he learned from his source, the jet is made completely of clear pieces similar to what was shown in the LEGO Batman: Visual Dictionary (see below). He was also told that the Invisible Jet is connected with the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie.

So there you have it. Some more juicy little tidbids to whet your appetite about the LEGO Super Heroes sets that could be coming out in the future. Just to give some context on Hulk_Smash, he did correctly give information about the 2013 LEGO Super Heroes sets so he does … Continue

LEGO Minecraft The Cave (21113) & The Farm (21114) Official Images

LEGO Minecraft The Cave (21113)

As I come back from a busy night and while checking Eurobricks, there is some new information about the new LEGO Minecraft minifigure scale sets. Actually there’s no new information but thethreevirtues channel on YouTube has revealed of what looks to be some official images of the minfigure scale LEGO Minecraft sets including The Cave (21113) and The Farm (21114). We first saw images of these sets a few months back but here we get some clearer images. The mobs and the animals looks very close to the ones we’ve seen earlier in the LEGO Minecraft team’s update videos so I do believe these are the legit sets.

These sets are scheduled to be released later this year. Other sets in the wave include The First Night (21115), Creative Box (21116), The Ender Dragon (21117), and The Mine (21118). What are your thoughts on these Minecraft sets which are very different from the Micro World sets?

Update: There are now descriptions of the sets from Hamleys Toy Shop

The Cave (21113)

Venture into The Cave on a dangerous quest for vital resources! Wield the iron pickaxe to dig and battle against hostile zombie and spider mobs. Blast out valuable ores and minerals with the TNT and combine the flowing water and lava to create precious obsidian! When you’re done battling and mining, restore your energy levels with the chest of bread. Proceed with caution! Rebuild the set for more LEGO Minecraft creations! Includes 2 minifigures with assorted accessories: Steve and a zombie, plus a spider

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes 2015 Sets Revealed

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Green Lantern vs. Sinestro (76025)

Idle Hands has revealed a list of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets that will be coming out next year including the Green Lantern Vs Sinestro (76025) that was seen at San Diego Comic Con 2014. From looking at the list, it seems that the sets will be connected with the Justice League characters.

Green Lantern vs. Sinestro (76025)
Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas (76026)
Black Manta Deep Sea Strike (76027)
Darkseid Invasion (76028)
Brainiac Attack (76040)

To give some context on who the heroes could be, the Flash will probably be in set 76026 since Gorilla Grodd is the primary enemy of him. Aquaman could be in set 76025 because Black Manta is his arch-enemy. Superman will probably be returning to a couple more DC sets because he and Darkseid are long-time rivals as well as Brainiac. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more heroes included in these last two sets.

Although there are no images of the sets yet besides the Green Lantern one, you can check out what some of the villain characters could look like from LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham below. Until confirmed by other sources, I’ll treat this news as a rumor for now.

Update: Rumor has it that the Brainiac Attack (76040) will have Superman, Brainiac, Supergirl, and Martian Manhunter minifigures.

Ideas on Possible Avengers: Age of Ultron LEGO Sets

A few months back, Marvel Entertainment announced their licensing partners for product lines based on the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie that will be coming out next year and LEGO is included as one of the companies. This is a guest post by Joe Hammond on possible sets that could be released by LEGO. We are not claiming that these sets are true by any stretch of the imagination but these are just ideas of what could be coming out.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out May 1st, 2015 and we are all excited for the possible LEGO sets that will be tied to the movie’s release (recently confirmed by LEGO). With an expanding cast of characters and many new uniforms it looks to be another amazing opportunity for LEGO to expand upon their Marvel sets and minifigs. In this article, I will summarize the information we have for the sequel (including released pictures and concept art) and compare it to the set compositions from the first Avengers movie to take the first crack at possible Age of Ultron LEGO sets.

First, a few things about the released LEGO Marvel Sets we have received so far. LEGO has been producing sets since April 2012. This is an amazing opportunity for fans of Marvel and LEGO to combine two of their favorite loves while Marvel popularity is at an all time high with their movies and cartoons on Disney television. However, it seems from the outside that LEGO’s diversified portfolio and desire to maintain a robust number … Continue
