LEGO Super Heroes 2014 Rumored Sets

Here’s some news that many people have been waiting for. All About Bricks is reporting there will be quite a few LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets coming out in 2014. First off, there will be two sets based on the LEGO 4 Juniors or 4 Plus line which targeted children four years or older. One set will be a Spider-Man car and has Venom and the other set is a Batcave and includes Batman, Robin, and the Joker.

Now to the good stuff. For the Marvel side, there will be three Spider-Man sets that will have new heroes and villains. There’s no word on whether they will be based on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie or continuing with the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. My guess is from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 since the movie will be out on April 17, 2014. The characters in the movie will include, of course, Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy, Electro, Rhino, Norman Osborn, and Harry Osborn just to name a few. I’m thinking that Norman will be the Green Goblin if that villain is in the movie. My guess for the minifigures are Spider-Man, Gwen, Electro, and Rhino. If LEGO decides to continue with the Ultimate Spider-Man, there are so many characters but the ones that stick out are Luke Cage/Power Man, White Tiger, Lizard, Electro, Rhino, and Kraven the Hunter.

There are also two sets based on The Avengers. Again, we don’t know if it will be based on last year’s movie since we’ve already have sets for it. Here’s … Continue

LEGO Star Wars 3-in-1 Super Pack (66456)

Belgian online retailer ColliShop has revealed a new LEGO Star Wars 3-in-1 Super Pack (66456) which includes the AT-RT (75002), Z-95 Headhunter (75004), and the BARC Speeder with Sidecar (75012). The Super Pack will have a suggested retail price of €99.99 and will be released later this year. The total number of pieces in the Super Pack comes to 821 and all three sets were released earlier this year.

What’s interesting to note is that all three sets are cheaper when bought separately. Doing a quick dollar conversion will make the Super Pack come to about $133.06, while buying them separately will only run you $94.97 from Shop@Home. There’s no word on whether it will be available at retailers here in the States such as Toys R Us stores.

Remembering September 11 With LEGO

Today is September 11 and people around the world are doing various things to remember the lives lost during the tragic event in 2001. Our good friend Mariann Asanuma (Model Building Secrets) created the above LEGO mosaic of the iconic Raising the Flag at Ground Zero picture by photographer Thomas E. Franklin to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the event but it is still fitting for every year since it remind us that our resolve grows stronger every year.

Nathan Sawaya has also created a piece to remember the event and has created a version of Yellow featuring the famous Statue of Liberty showing her heart.

I wanted to do a special piece for the city. The Statue of Liberty is a welcoming symbol of this city and ultimately she is all about heart.

Never Forget

Flickr user TAMUMick has recreated a firefighter helmet with a prominent 343 in the front to represent the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished during the September 11 while protecting the citizens of New York.

If you have something created with LEGO bricks to commemorate September 11, feel free to contact us and we’ll feature your works of art as well. Never forget 9/11.

LEGO Shaun of the Dead Winchester Pub Instructions

Our friends over at Brick Fanatics is starting a new feature on their site where they’ll be sharing LEGO MOC instructions from different various artists who submit their content. If you remember last year, the LEGO CUUSOO Shaun of the Dead Winchester Pub project by Greg Coquelz, aka Yatkuu, was rejected by the LEGO Jury even though it had a massive following from supporters including Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. You’ll be glad to know that Greg has provided the instructions for you to download for free. So if you’ve been wanting to build your own Winchester Pub, well here’s your chance.

Greg has also provided instructions of the Stargate Heavy Machine Gun for free. It doesn’t stop there! There are also premium instructions that you can purchase for a very affordable price of $2 for his Stargate Bookends (see below image). These instructions are also available through Brick Fanatics.

I think this is a very interesting concept by Brick Fanatics because maybe you’ve seen a MOC that you really like and would like to recreate it. If that artist decides to submit their instructions to BF, you can probably get for a certain price or even for free. You’ll be sure that we’ll be featuring more submitted instructions as they become available.

LEGO at New York Comic Con 2013

LEGO has been a big presence at various conventions throughout the years such as the Comic Cons in San Diego and New York. There’s been speculation of whether LEGO would make it to the 2013 New York Comic Con on October 10-13 and the news broke today that they will not be making an appearance this year. Last year, the company revealed the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line during NYCC and we were hoping there would be some sort of reveal during this year’s event. I guess they could be saving the reveals for a fully-fledged LEGO convention such as LEGO Fan Weekend or BrickWorld Fort Wayne coming up later this month instead of a convention that isn’t nearly as big as San Diego Comic Con. LEGO’s decision not to be at NYCC 2013 could also be a result of what happened during SDCC 2013 and the Super Heroes minifigure debacle. Does this also mean LEGO won’t be making any more appearances at future conventions such as next year’s NYCC and SDCC? Only time will tell.

Update: Thanks to the theBrickBlogger for the update on why LEGO will not be at New York Comic Con. Earlier this year, LEGO was in New York to reveal the giant X-Wing Starfighter to promote The Yoda Chronicles and most of their budget went to that event. That’s a sigh of relief as LEGO will probably be returning next year for future events. False alarm people!
