60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) Winner Announced

Last month, I ran a contest for a chance to win the 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set. There were over 7,000 entries and I’ve randomly chosen the winner and that person is:

Jesus P.

I’ve contacted the winner to get their shipping details. Sorry about the late post about this but I didn’t forget about you guys. With all the issues of Toys R Us and the closing announcements, I’ve been busy dealing with that for the past few weeks and trying to figure out my next steps. I will also be announcing the winner(s) of The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigure Vignette Building Competition in the next day or so stay tuned for that. I think there were some very creative builds for that contest.

I am also giving you a chance to win a set. I currently have two sets in my possession and I’m willing to give away one set to one of you guys. The only thing that you have to do is to enter using the Rafflecopter widget below that’s it. The contest will run until the end of February and there are various ways you can get entries.

LEGO did not supply the sets. I made purchases on both [email protected] and in store to get them using my own money while getting some sets that I wanted.

60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) Sold Out on [email protected]

If you’ve been holding out on getting the 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290), your luck has probably ran out. After about four days, the set is now sold out on [email protected] at least here in the US. The promotion has now been replaced with last month’s LEGO City Dragster with a purchase of $35 or more. As predicted before the promo started, I figured this set would be very popular with the fans as it has a nostalgic vibe to it.

There may still be some LEGO Brand Stores that may still have them available so your best chance is to call them up directly and see if they do indeed have them. Other than that, your best bet to get it is on the secondary market which isn’t cheap by any means or if you have some very good friends.

Better Look at LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) Set

LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290)

We now have a better a better look at the 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set courtesy of the January 2018 LEGO Store Calendar. We now know that it will be available from January 28 – February 14 here in the US giving you over two weeks to get your hands on it. You can get it for free with a purchase of $125 or more, while supplies last. I’m sure that this set will go very quickly as this is one of the best promotional items that LEGO has released in recent years.

Unlike the previous widely released individual homage promotional sets like the Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812), Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082), and Classic Knights Minifigure (5004419) which used minifigures along with small builds, this new set focuses more on actual sets that LEGO has released in the past. The themes are focused in this set are Town, Castle, Pirates, and Space and the builds are based on the Airport Shuttle (6399), Castle (375), Black Seas Barracuda (6285), and Space Cruiser And Moonbase (928). With 421 pieces, there’s enough to have all four micro builds built at the same time without taking the other ones apart.

The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set is way better than the Building Bigger Thinking theme that we’ll be getting next year that also celebrates the anniversary of the brick. As I mentioned before, fans will definitely want to pick it up and I have a feeling that it will sell out … Continue

Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it. I saw it last night but didn’t post due to the impending announcement of the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) that was shown on top of the calendar. I’ll update with a better image when the PDF copy is available.

Update: The January 2018 LEGO Store Calendar is available and we now have a clearer look at the set.
