LEGO Star Wars DJ (40298) Polybag to be Available at Toys R Us

LEGO Star Wars DJ (40298)

A few weeks ago, I talked about a new LEGO Star Wars: The Last Jedi DJ (40298) polybag that has shown up. It looks like it will be available at Toys R Us as some readers here and on Reddit have them a little early before the release date. They were available for purchase for $4.99 each but I’m guessing they are part of an upcoming promotion. I’ll have to confirm that when I go back to work in a few days.

DJ (40298) is similar to some of the recent LEGO Star Wars minifigure polybags like R3-M2 and the Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) in which they have a connectible stand along with a background card. I’ll let you guys know in a few days when the promo at TRU is running and the requirements to get it.

60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) Building Instructions Now Available

60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290)

The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set will be available at the end of January but you can now download the building instructions for it early. The nice thing about seeing the instructions early is because you also have the parts list. Fortunately, the set doesn’t seem to have any exclusive pieces besides the new 2×4 printed 60th anniversary 2×4 tile. However, there are some fairly rare new pieces like the 1×3 plate with with studs and the 3×3 black plate, just to name a few.

As I mentioned before, the 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set will be available from January 28 – February 14 with a purchase of $125 or more at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home.

The Brick Fan 2017 Recap

2017 is now over and that means we can now take a look at the website traffic here on The Brick Fan as well as other miscellaneous stats. We ended the year at 9,081,785 page views which is a 3% drop from 2016 while unique visits went down 4%.

As for the numbers per month, we averaged about 756,000 page views per month with January being the busiest month due to the Toy Fair news. This year’s Toy Fairs will be at the end of the month so I expect traffic will spike in February instead of January. Our highest recorded day was February 18 as we hit just under 60,000 page views for the New York Toy Fair coverage.

Some other random high traffic days include:

– January 3: New Rumors of LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon Coming

– April 22: LEGO Creator Fairground Carousel (10256) Rumored for June Release

– May 1: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Thor: Ragnarok Box Art Images

– August 31: LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon (75192) Officially Announced

For our social media pages, we didn’t really grow that much in terms of followers for some of the traditional sites like Facebook and Twitter. I’m actually not sure why it didn’t grow as much as I expected since I am pretty active on them. For Facebook, we ended the year at 12,936 likes (14% increase from 2016) while on Twitter, we had 7,343 followers (8% increase).

As for Instagram, we actually ended right at 10,000 … Continue

LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) Listed on Toys R Us

The LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) won’t be a LEGO exclusive anymore because it is now listed on the Toys R Us website. It isn’t currently available at this time but you can sign up for email notifications to let you know when they will have some in their warehouse. The RWeb# is 810544.

Shop@Home has had limited availability since it was first launched and you can no longer get the Black VIP Card that went with it. I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say that LEGO didn’t have enough to make the rumored 30,000 cards that were planned for this promotion.

If you’re still looking for the UCS Falcon, it may be worth signing up for the TRU email notifications. I’ve had luck with the system on other products so it does work.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Available in February in the US

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235)

I have the February 2018 LEGO Store Calendar and one of the main promotions for the month is the LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) set. Apparently for this year, it is not an Asian country exclusive as we will be able to get it from February 16-28 with a purchase of $88 or more, while supplies last. The Dog joins a number of previous animals that have been released that are from the Chinese zodiac.

Coincidentally, February 16 is Lunar New Year so it’s nice to see that LEGO has also decided to celebrate the event with this set here in the US. As for the purchase price of $88, the number 88 symbolizes fortune and good luck in Chinese culture. I am very looking forward to the LEGO Year of the Dog set as I am born on this zodiac animal and don’t have to resort to the secondary market to get a copy of it.
