LEGO Galaxy Squad Mini Mech Polybag (30230) Review

During the month of August, LEGO is having a promotion for a FREE LEGO Galaxy Squad Mini Mech polybag (30230) when you purchase $50 or more at LEGO stores and on Shop@Homeicon. These polybags were on available for sale at select Walmart stores earlier this year but I didn’t see at my stores. The Mini Mech set contains 28 pieces.

LEGO Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (75015) Review

The summer wave of the 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets have started to show up in stores and a friend urged me to pick up one of these sets yesterday. There are only a few of the summer sets that I am looking to get and one of them was the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (75015). This set recreates the scene of the start of the First Battle of Geonosis although it wasn’t seen in Episode II.

This set contains 271 pieces and retails for $19.99 which is a great $0.07/piece although it is a little skewed. I’ll explain more of that later. The box contains two numbered bags, one instruction booklet, and two grey inverted dishes.

LEGO MBA Invention Designer (20215) Kit 12 – Inventor’s Lab Review

The third and final book of the LEGO Master Builder Academy Invention Designer (20215) is Kit 12 – Inventor’s Lab. This book focuses on different inventions and mechanisms inspired by Leonardo da Vinci from LEGO Designer Steen Sig Andersen. Like the first two books, there are instructions for a main model and three springboard models. In addition, you can access seven more springboard models on the LEGO Master Builder Academy website.

LEGO Star Wars SDCC 2013 Exclusive JEK-14 Mini Stealth Starfighter Review

The second set that LEGO was selling at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con was the LEGO Star Wars SDCC 2013 Exclusive JEK-14 Mini Stealth Starfighter. Like The Hobbit Micro Scale Bag End, you had to get in line for a ticket to purchase the small set. This set contains 105 pieces and retails for $40, a $0.38/piece. My set was numbered 168 of 1000. There is one unnumbered bag and one instruction booklet.

LEGO The Hobbit SDCC 2013 Exclusive Micro Scale Bag End Review

At the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, LEGO announced one of the two exclusive sets they would be selling is The Hobbit Micro Scale Bag End. To get the set, you had to stand in line to get a ticket to purchase the set. I was lucky enough to get one of the last sets they had on the first day. The set consists of 130 pieces and retails for $40 which is a whopping $0.31/piece but that is expected since these are exclusive sets that you can only get at conventions. This set is number 785 of 1000. This year LEGO has decided to go with a small box instead of a tin can like last year’s exclusive. Inside the box, there is one unnumbered bag and one instruction booklet.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings The Tower of Orthanc (10237) Review

For a while now, there were rumors that LEGO might be releasing The Tower of Orthanc (10237) for the LEGO Lord of the Rings theme and in January, there was a blurry image of what appeared to be the tower in Isengard. In April, LEGO revealed there was indeed a set coming out based on the structure from the Lord of the Rings movies. The set contains 2359 pieces and retails for $199.99, a $0.08/piece ratio. The box includes 18 numbered bags that go from 1-15, 3 cardboarded instruction booklets, and a sticker sheet.
