Let the LEGO Dimensions Character Guessing Game Begin!

Deskp on Eurobricks has posted a image of the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack box which shows a list of characters that will be in some of the expansion Fun Packs, Team Packs, and Level Packs. We already know a lot of them during the reveals last week but there are still some that are a mystery. The image shows the top of the box but rotated using Photoshop so it’s still blurry.

For some of the future characters, I already noted them in my speculation post but there are a few that raises more questions than giving answers. One of the characters is listed as #3. Many people on the forums have been guessing that it is Chell from Portal video game series. Way back in 2012, the Thinking With Portals! project on LEGO CUUSOO reached the review stage but ultimately failed at becoming an official set. In 2013, the Wizard of Oz set also reached the review stage and didn’t pass either but the theme will officially be used in LEGO Dimensions later this year. If that third character on the box is actually Chell, that means that LEGO has obtained a licence to create a minifigure of her as well. Plus it makes sense since a Portal would completely fit in with the LEGO Dimensions.

Now that we’ve seen the top of the box at a different angle, who are your guesses for the characters listed? Click on the image above to see a larger version. Guessing is fun but we … Continue

LEGO Apollo 13 Minifigures by Minifig.me Now Available

Overnight, the guys over at Minifigs.me sent over some details of some of their newest LEGO minifigures commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 13 mission on April 11th. This was the 7th manned mission in the Apollo space program and was intended to be the third to land on the moon but was aborted when the oxygen tank exploded. The crew of Commander James Lovell, Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert, and Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise returned safely on April 17, 1970.

Apollo 13 LEGO minifigures released for mission’s 45th Anniversary

It seems there a surprise in store for the historic Apollo 13 45th anniversary celebrations – a new set of LEGO minifigures based on the mission has just been released.

Four collectable minifigures have been created depicting astronauts James Lovell, Fred Haise, Jack Swigert and flight director Gene Kranz. Printed by boutique custom minifigure designers minifigs.me, they were produced with expert guidance to ensure no detail was missed.

“We were approached by an expert on the Apollo missions, who wanted to recreate these in time for the anniversary,” Nick Savage, director of UK-based minifigs.me explained. “We worked together for weeks to get them perfect, discussing everything from the precise placement of the metal tabs on suit valves to the way each astronaut wore their watches. We’ve made something very special as a result.”

The expert Savage refers to is Chris Spain, who’s online guides to facets of the Apollo Missions have become a go-to resource for enthusiasts.

“Chris sent us a huge amount

The 1969 Chevrolet Corvette by brickdater is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. Based onthe 1969 C3, it is one of the most recognizable classic cars in automotive history.

The project becomes the 11th one to reach the First 2015 Review Stage joining The Discworld, Science Adventures, Medieval Market Street, Disney Princess Frozen Elsa’s Ice Palace, Douglas DC-3, Bricksauria – Tyrannosaurus Rex, the International Space Station, The Golden Girls, The Legend of Zelda: King of Red Lions Play Set, and the RMS Titanic. There are now less than 16 days before the review period is finished and there are still a few more projects that could join the list as well.

LEGO Dimensions Future Theme Speculation

LEGO Dimensions

Now that we’ve had time to soak in the announcement of the new LEGO Dimensions with the Starter Packs and the Expansion Packs and seen the LEGO themes that have been revealed so far, let’s take a look at what other themes we could be seeing in the future being included in the video game. We can see from the image above that the top of the box shows lots of minifigures from the Fun, Team, and Level Packs that have already been revealed and even some that haven’t been announced yet. This is purely a speculation post and feel free to comment below on what themes you would like to see to be included in future LEGO Dimensions expansion packs.

Back to the Future

This theme is pretty much confirmed with the Back to the Future Level Pack which includes Marty McFly, the DeLorean Time Machine, and the Hoverboard. Whether or not we’ll be seeing other characters in the future remains to be seen.

BIONICLE

Since LEGO Dimensions is about the minifigures, I’m not so sure that LEGO BIONICLE will fit the concept. They did have some figures during the original run but they weren’t your typical minifigures. The thing that BIONCLE has going for them is that it’s LEGO own IP.

City

Although LEGO City is one of the more popular themes, I don’t see it being a good fit.

DC Comics Super Heroes

DC Comics is already a shoe-in with Batman being in the Starter Packs and other characters already revealed in Fun Continue
