LEGO Ideas First Review Stage Begins

LEGO Ideas

The first LEGO Review deadline for the new LEGO Ideas, formerly CUUSOO, has passed and the team has announced the qualifying projects for the Review Stage. The projects that qualify are: the LEGO Bird Project, the Modular Apple Store, the BTTF – Jules Verne Train, The Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who and Companions. As you can see, we have a variety of projects that are worthy to become an official set so we have to wait and see which ones LEGO chooses to become one.

The LEGO Ideas team also announced that the results for the Winter 2014 Review Stage will be coming in the next few weeks which includes the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie, Sherlock, Legend of Zelda Iron Knuckle Encounter, Japanese Old Style Architecture, The Adventure Time Project, and the BTTF – UCS DeLorean Time Machine.

The second 2014 LEGO Review Deadline is September 1st and there are a number of projects that could potentally qualify for it. Check out those projects here.

LEGO Ideas Batman ’66 50th Anniversary Batmobile

This year marks the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics’ Batman to mark the event, AFOL conventions in 2014 will have the opportunity to have a contest to pick the best Batman-themed MOC at that show. At Philly Brick Fest, I saw Sam Gras’ 1966 Batmobile displayed at the show and it won the Rocky in the Best Celebration of Batman! Contest.

The MOC has also been submitted to LEGO Ideas and has garnered over 1500 supporters already. It’s a very good representation of the Batmobile from the 1966 TV series starring Adam West & Burt Ward. Below are some facts of the project:

– The Batmobile measures over 4” (10cm) high, 11” (28cm) long and 5” (13cm) wide

– Screen accurate License plates

– Includes 3 mini-figures with assorted weapons: Batman, Robin, and The Joker

– Weapons include 2 Batarangs, flag gun, extra large hammer, Joker Fish, creme pie

– Reenact the famous “Batman Bomb Run”

– William Shakespeare bust with hidden bat-switch

– Shark Repellent Spray & Shark

With more and more iconic cars becoming official LEGO sets such as the BTTF DeLorean and the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, it would be cool to add another car to the list. Head over to LEGO Ideas and show your support.

Toys R Us LEGO Star Wars Starfighter Building Event Instructions

Toys R Us LEGO Star Wars Building Event

Today at Toys R Us stores, there was a LEGO Star Wars building event where kids can build a X-Wing and a TIE Fighter but it was nothing too spectacular. The X-Wing is the exact same one we got in the 2011 Advent Calendar (7958) and the TIE Fighter is a little bit different. Below are the instructions if you want to build your own. Thanks to John and Charlie for emailing in the instructions.

Philly Brick Fest 2014 Swag

So it’s been a few days since I got back from Philly Brick Fest 2014 and I finally have some time to show off what I got on my trip. Throughout the four days, there were games and activities you could do to win some awesome prizes. The first things I got while I was there was a goodie bag filled with treats and the exclusive Ben Franklin minifigure set.

Later after the first day, there was a thing called Bowling for Bricks at Arnold’s Family Fun Center. The first game was sort of a relay where teams had to bowl and build at the same time. One person would bowl and another person would build and the first team to complete the build wins. Unfortunately my team lost that game. The second game was for the highest team score. My team consisted of Chris (Bricks4Chris), Dan (Classy Bricks), Mark, and me. The prize that I got was the LEGO City Auto Transporter (60060) which I had to break down because it wouldn’t fit in my suitcase.

After everyone left the bowling alley, me, Chris, Dan, and Chad had our own little competition for who can bowl the first strike. The prize for this game was the LEGO Racers Race Rig (8162). Somehow I rolled the very first strike but Chris ended up tying me. In the second frame to everyone’s surprise, I rolled another strike while Chris barely missed, hitting 9 out of the 10 pins. I won the cool … Continue

The LEGO Movie How It Should Have Ended

There is a new video from the web series How It Should Have Ended in conjunction with Brotherhood Workshop which features The LEGO Movie. Superman and Batman are at a restaurant and Superman discusses why he and other Super Heroes and Master Builders were taken out so easily. He notes that he should have broken out of the gum and used his powers to defeat the worker drone army and save the day. Check out the hilarious video below with a cameo by Green Lantern.
