LEGO BTTF Jules Verne Train Instructions by Team BTTF

Earlier this year, the BTTF – Jules Verne Train by Team BTTF achieved 10,000 supporters on then LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, it wasn’t chosen as one of the projects that would be official sets in the First 2014 LEGO Review. For those who really wanted this to be a real set, there’s some good news.

Today, Team BTTF announced that they have provided the instructions for free in LXF format. You can easily import the instructions to LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) to build your own version of Jules Verne Train.

There are two different versions of the train: the regular locomotive version and the one with the motor included. Check out the video below to see the Jules Verne Train in action.

The Natural History Museum Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Natural History Museum by tjspencer1 becomes the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. There have been many modular builds on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas but this project has the subject type that people could really get behind and it could be an official set if it passes the review stage. What’s cool about it is that it’s not based on any particular real-life museum so there’s no licensing issues (that I’m aware of) and it has a cool science background to it which LEGO does like to see judging from previous official LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas sets.

The Natural History Museum now joins the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labyrinth Marble Maze, the F7A, and The Goonies 30th Anniversary Inferno in the Third 2014 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas First 2014 LEGO Review Results Announced

LEGO has just announced the latest LEGO Ideas projects to become official sets. There were six projects qualified for the review and after very long consideration, the LEGO Bird Project by DeTomaso will become LEGO Ideas #009.

But wait, that’s not it! The Big Bang Theory by Alatariel and GlenBricker based on the hit TV series will also become LEGO Ideas set #010. Ellen Kooijman, aka Alatariel, also becomes the first person to have two LEGO Ideas projects become official sets with the first one being the wildly popular Research Institute (21110)icon.

LEGO is still working on the details for the final product design, pricing, and availability are still being worked out. They are still evaluating the two Doctor Who projects so there’s still may be a chance that one of the two may become an official LEGO set as well.

The second 2014 LEGO Review stage is already underway and those result should be coming in late January 2015.

More LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110) Sets in the Works

LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110)

It looks like LEGO is working on a plan to make more of the wildly popular LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110) set. Over on Shop@Homeicon, they have updated the status to say:

LEGO® Ideas sets are fan created and limited production. We’re sorry it’s not available – it’s proven to be an overwhelmingly popular set. We’re looking into if we can make more. Check back soon!

From the looks of it, LEGO is trying to get more of the sets produced as the demand was definitely there and it was underestimated on how popular it actually was. Currently, the Research Institute is only available at various LEGO Stores with very limited quantities coming in from time to time. It is also on the secondary market but the price is at least three times the markup so I would suggest holding off purchasing it as there may be more coming out in the future.

Thanks to Dennis for the heads up.

Jurassic Park/Jurassic World Projects Now Allowed on LEGO Ideas

Earlier this month, Universal announced that The LEGO Group will be one of the licensing partners for the upcoming Jurassic World movie. As a result, LEGO has resolved their licensing conflicts with Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. Earlier this year, LEGO Ideas did the same with Doctor Who which resulted in an abundance of Doctor Who projects including two that achieved 10,000 supporters.

If you remember from last year, all the Jurassic Park related projects were removed including the one from Senteosan after only 6,495 supporters. This was because Hasbro/Kre-O signed on to produce construction sets for Jurassic World but that contract has since expired and The LEGO Group now owns the rights to produce the sets.

As of a few days ago, people are now allowed again to post Jurassic Park/World projects on LEGO Ideas but whether or not they are able to pass the review stage and become an official set remains to be seen.

LEGO The Goonies 30th Anniversary – The Inferno Achieves 10,000 Supporters

With The Goonies 30th Anniversary coming up in 2015, Lyonblood’s idea of The Inferno has just achieved 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The project is based on One-Eyed Willy’s pirate ship that was inside the cavern.

The project also includes all the Goonies as minifigures with the Inferno. The ship itself has playability features with it such as removing the top deck to reveal some details underneath.

The Inferno now joins the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labrinth Marble Maze, and the F7A Hornet in the third 2014 LEGO Review Stage. Congrats to Lyonblood for the achievement. Now everyone do the Truffle Shuffle!

LEGO F7A Hornet Acheives 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

With a recent surge of supporters the past few days, the F7A Hornet by Nosmigon is the latest project to get the required 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build is based on the Anvil Aerospace Hornet from the upcoming game, Star Citizen, which was originally a KickStarter project. The ship in the game is the UEE Navy’s premier fighter craft and is the front-line attack ship for combat missions.

Nosmigon has also provided the LDD file so anyone can build the F7A Hornet in case that it doesn’t get approved as an official set. The project now joins the Avengers Helicarrier and the Labyrinth Marble Maze in the third 2014 LEGO Review Stage. Congratulations to Nosmigon for the achievement!
