LEGO Store Exclusive 2014 Holiday VIP Shopping Event

LEGO Store Exclusive Holiday 2014 VIP Shopping Event

The invitations for the LEGO Store Exclusive Holiday 2014 VIP Shopping Event have started to be sent out to eligible LEGO VIP members. The invitation-only VIP shopping event will be held on November 22nd at 9:00am and it allows guests to take advantage of some special holiday offers ahead of Black/”Brick” Friday weekend.

Last year, there were some freebies including free Holiday Pick-A-Brick box, a poster, and a bracelet. There were also peel-off cards to reveal a special offer during the event such as a free set, keychain, or a shopping spree. I can’t confirm if LEGO will be doing the same thing for this year or not.

From what I’ve heard, the LEGO VIP members who have spent a certain amount during a period of time were invited in the shopping event. There are some restrictions to the event like a $5000 limit and no more than five of any single set may be purchased.

Did any of you guys get invited to the 2014 LEGO Shopping Event too?

LEGO December 2014 Store Calendar Promos & Events

December 2014 LEGO Store Calendar

The holiday season is pretty much started now and the December 2014 LEGO Store Calendar is now available. Although it is the last month of the year, the deals that will be available are decent but not over the top.

Continuing from Novemeber, you will be able to get a FREE Exclusive 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar with purchases of $75 or more. This deal is valid until the end of the year. Like we mentioned before, there will be no Pick-A-Brick boxes this year and they have been replaced by the 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar. The calendar does include some coupons for future purchases next year.

January – FREE LEGO Store Employee Minifigure (5001622) with any purchase.
February – FREE Hoth Han Solo Minifigure (5001621) with any Star Wars purchase.
March – FREE Build-a-Minifigure set with any purchase.

The other “promotion” is the 2 of 2 LEGO Creator Holiday Exclusive Ice Skating (40107) set which is only available the first day of December because it is a leftover promotion from Black/”Brick” Friday 2014 weekend. That promotion runs only from November 28 – December 1.

Although, it doesn’t show on this particular version of the December 2014 LEGO Store Calendar, there will be a Monthly Mini Build Event on Tuesday, December 2. It starts at 5pm but get there early because the line usually gets pretty long.

Update: The December 2014 Monthly Mini Build will be a small gingerbread house. Photo courtesy of murphquake.

LEGO Retro Storage Brick and T-Shirt Now Available at Target

Target LEGO Storage Orange Transparent Round Brick 1 with Retro LEGO T-Shirt

Now available at at Target stores and online are some new, exclusive limited time only toys. One of these items is a LEGO Retro Storage Brick and T-Shirt. The orange storage brick is in the shape of a round 1×1 brick that allows you to store your loose LEGO bricks.

The shirt is yellow but unfortunately, it only comes in kids medium size. It shows a couple of LEGO logos throughout the years including the one from 1953 prominently displayed across the chest.

In stores, the LEGO Retro Storage Brick and T-Shirt retails for $19 but online, it’s going for only $15.99 which is a bit strange to why they have different prices. Again, this combo is only available for a very short time, most likely through the holiday season. We will be receiving one for review shortly and will be doing a review on it so stay tuned for that.

LEGO DC Comics: LEGO Batman Be-Leaguered Recap

LEGO DC Comics: Batman Be-Leaguered

Today was the premiere of the new special on Cartoon Network of LEGO DC Comics: LEGO Batman Be-Leaguered. The show incorporates a lot of existing LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets that have already been released as well minifigures that will be released next year. There are major spoilers ahead so if you haven’t watched the episode yet, you can watch it on Cartoon Network for free.

The show starts off with Batman fending off Man-Bat, the Penguin, and the Joker in a museum to protect the World’s Largest Gem. Superman is also unexpectedly showed up but not to assist Batman but to recruit him to the Justice League in which Batman refers to him as the “Alien.”

With the annoyance of Superman, Batman manages to defeat all three of his foes (with the help of Superman’s heat vision on the Penguin) but at a price. Superman somehow disappears into thin air and the World’s Largest Gem also disappears in front of Batman’s eyes.

Back at the Batcave, Batman is trying to figure out what made Superman disappear. Reluctantly, he calls the Flash for help. Alfred, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin also show up in this scene but that’s the last time we see them in the show. At the end of this scene, Superman is woken up by a mysterious character who has imprisoned him.

More Characters Revealed for LEGO Batman 3 at MCM London Comic Con 2014

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - Reverse Flash

During the last day of MCM London Comic Con 2014, the LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham panel took place with TT Games Arthur Parsons and Phil Ring. There they revealed three more playable characters, Reverse Flash, Black Canary, and Captain Cold.

This version of Reverse Flash is Eobard Thawne, aka Professor Zoom, who is the arch-nemesis of the Flash. He worshipped the Barry Allen’s version of the Flash so much that he made himself look like Allen using Plastomorph. When Thawne visited the Flash Museum after Allen’s death, he learned that he would be destined to be the Flash’s greatest villain. In LEGO Batman 3, Reverse Flash will probably have the same abilities as the Flash.

Black Canary is a vigilante who has been trained in martial arts and also has a sonic scream attack, the Canary Cry. She was also one of the founding members of the Justice League of America but later left the group. This version of Black Canary is different from the one in the Arrow DLC Pack.

Captain Cold is also another of the Flash’s arch-enemies. He uses a cyclotron as his main weapon to shoot ice that reduces temperatures to absolute zero. Captain Cold will also be in the upcoming 2015 LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas (76026) set.

Jurassic Park/Jurassic World Projects Now Allowed on LEGO Ideas

Earlier this month, Universal announced that The LEGO Group will be one of the licensing partners for the upcoming Jurassic World movie. As a result, LEGO has resolved their licensing conflicts with Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. Earlier this year, LEGO Ideas did the same with Doctor Who which resulted in an abundance of Doctor Who projects including two that achieved 10,000 supporters.

If you remember from last year, all the Jurassic Park related projects were removed including the one from Senteosan after only 6,495 supporters. This was because Hasbro/Kre-O signed on to produce construction sets for Jurassic World but that contract has since expired and The LEGO Group now owns the rights to produce the sets.

As of a few days ago, people are now allowed again to post Jurassic Park/World projects on LEGO Ideas but whether or not they are able to pass the review stage and become an official set remains to be seen.
